The 1998 Honda Hornet 600 is a naked road sports big motorcycle equipped with a water-cooled, in-line 4-cylinder, 4-stroke 600cc engine as in the CBR600F with high output performance in a body that combines volume and slimness.

Honda CB600F Hornet has a voluminous design equipped with a water-cooled, 4-cycle, in-line 4-cylinder 599cc engine with smooth and powerful output characteristics from low/medium speed range to high speed range on a lightweight and compact frame. Naked road sports motorbike model Honda Hornet 600 was released from March 6th, 1998.

This Honda Hornet 600 was exhibited as a reference at the 32nd Tokyo Motor Show last year and was well received by sports model users.
The body follows the frame of the Hornet (250cc), which is well-received for its volume that exceeds its class, and is equipped with a well-balanced 600cc high-performance engine. The engine is equipped with a water-cooled, 4-cycle DOHC, in-line 4-cylinder, 600cc that has a good reputation installed in the CBR600F, and has output characteristics that are easy to handle for a wide range of uses, from city driving to highway touring.

Water-cooled, 4-cycle, DOHC in-line 4-cylinder engine with smooth and powerful output characteristics from low/mid to high speeds

Based on the 599cm³ engine installed in the CBR600F, which has a reputation for high reliability and ease of handling, the intake and exhaust system settings have been changed to achieve maximum torque compared to the CBR600F. It delivers 5.3kgm/7,500rpm, which is 0.2kgm higher, and has even more powerful characteristics in the low and medium speed range.

Main changes from CBR600F

• The main bore diameter of the carburetor has been reduced from 36mm to 34mm to improve torque mainly in the low rev range.
• By extending the length of the intake pipe (inlet pipe) by 30mm, it enhances the intake pulsation effect and improves torque in the low/mid speed range and partial range.
• By extending the pipe length from the exhaust pipe to the entrance of the muffler by 360mm, it achieves rich torque characteristics in the entire rotation range.

Lightweight and compact, but with an overwhelming sense of volume

The frame follows the well-established mono-backbone frame of the Hornet (250cc).
The front engine hanger has been changed to match the 600cc engine. In addition, by balancing the rigidity of the entire vehicle body, sharp handling with a sense of stability is achieved. The wide radial tires used on the Hornet (front: 130/70ZR16, rear: 180/55ZR17) combine excellent cornering performance with overwhelming volume.

Presence and Powerful Styling

From the fuel tank to the rear fender, a glamorous curved surface is constructed. The muffler that is pulled up to the rear and the extra-thick rear tires give it a strong presence and fearless styling.

Coloring

Two colors, Candy Mythos Magenta and Heavy Gray Metallic, are available for first release to emphasize the functional beauty and styling of the Hornet 600. The later added body color, pearlless white, gives an image of lightness and sportiness. In addition, by adopting matte axis gray metallic (matte black) for the wheels, the undercarriage is tightened more. With the addition of the other colors, the Hornet 600 is expected to meet the needs of a wide range of users with a wide variety of three colors, including the conventional Candy Mythos Magenta and Heavy Gray Metallic.
